"I was so disgusting and repulsive" - Benny Blanco reveals Selena Gomez got a face rash after their first kiss

Selena Gomez and Benny Blanco reveal their first kiss resulted in the songstress getting a rash. During their appearance on the Table Manners With Jessie and Lennie Ware podcast on Wednesday, April 30, the couple discussed the moment that left the actress "a little embarrassed."

Gushing about their first kiss, the music producer shared that they were playing We’re Not Really Strangers, a card game that helps make meaningful connections. He explained that one of the cards they pulled read, "Take a selfie with the person next to you," prompting Gomez to sit on him to take the photo.

"And then right after, I just looked at her and I said, ‘I gotta kiss this girl.’ I kissed her right away, and her heart started beating so quickly, and she started getting a rash on her face…she was so nervous," continued Blanco.

Hearing the anecdote, host Lennie jokingly questioned if the Only Murders in the Building star was allergic to him. Responding with a self-deprecating quip, Benny Blanco replied:

"She was, yeah. I was so disgusting and repulsive."

Elaborating on her emotions during their first kiss, Selena Gomez explained that her skin became inflamed because she "hadn’t liked anyone in a very long time." She added that while some kisses were "for fun," it was "completely different" when one felt something.

"And I’d been alone for about five years, with the exception of a few shitty dates here and there, but never felt that way. And I was a little embarrassed," Gomez noted.

Elsewhere during the episode, the actress revealed her grandmother's (Nana's) chicken and dumpling was her (Grandma's) best recipe. Benny Blanco immediately noted:

Gomez agreed, adding that she cooked with her nana to make it "really good." She confessed that in an effort to surprise Blanco with the dish she made, her friend gave it to him as she waited in her car outside his home, forgetting he had cameras installed.

The producer continued to reveal Gomez frequently arrived at their dates twenty to thirty minutes ahead of time, something he could see in the cameras. Joking about her "insane" need to be "on time," Benny Blanco continued:

"She would wait outside. But she didn’t realize that my cameras could see down the street, and her car would just be parked outside for like 30 minutes, and she would just wait until it was time to come in."

This prompted Selena Gomez to admit she was "nervous." She added that she really liked Blanco and wanted a few minutes to herself to "pump" herself or "do her makeup" before the date.

Benny Blanco, too, gushed about his "soulmate." He revealed he made a list with his therapist of what he wanted in the person he would spend his life with, adding:

"Everything I wrote down on the list was actually her."

He continued to call Selena kind, caring, and passionate about the things she liked doing. Blanco noted she was beautiful inside and out.

Benny Blanco and Selena Gomez met while collaborating on the 2019 track I Can't Get Enough. However, they did not begin dating until June 2023 (confirmed their relationship in December 2023). Last December, the couple announced their engagement.

Last month, the couple dropped a joint album, I Said I Love You First. It debuted at the No. 2 spot on the Billboard 200 chart. The 14-track project is available to stream online.
