Indiana Cheerleader Saves March Madness by Freeing Stuck Ball

  • An Indiana University cheerleader has been declared the MVP of March Madness after she freed a basketball stuck behind the backboard on Thursday night. After the tallest players on each team failed to reach the ball — they even tried using a chair to give them a lift and poking at it with the end of a mop — the IU cheer teem launched an athlete into the air, to wild encouragement from the audience.

"Ah, she's got it!" yelled TBS commentator Andrew Catalon yelled. "What a play! The cheerleader saves the day! And that's her 'One Shining Moment.'"

Sadly for IU fans, the moment served as the highlight of the day. The No. 12 Hoosiers suffered an 82-53 loss to the No. 5 Saint Mary's Gaels, ending their March Madness hopes.
