Music mogul Scooter Braun has spoken about the ongoing rumors that Taylor Swift's 2022 song "Vigilante Sh*t" drew inspiration from his split with Yael Cohen. In a July 17 chat on Question Everything with Danielle Robay, Braun shed light on his private life and the guesses that followed the track's debut. The tune part of Swift's Midnights album has words that talk about a woman siding with an ex-wife, getting custody of kids, and driving a former partner's vehicle.

The song's timing — it came out right after Braun and Cohen wrapped up their divorce — made many fans think Swift was hinting at Braun and what was going on in his life. Braun denied any link between the song and his personal life. He said he has a good co-parenting bond with Cohen and stressed that they still respect each other.

"My ex-wife is one of my best friends," Scooter Braun stated, pointing out that they don't call each other exes and stay tight for their kids. "That’s like my partner. That’s the mother of my children."

He also mentioned a symbolic gesture of their ongoing partnership: a tattoo on his finger that reads “same team,” which he got after their divorce. According to Scooter Braun, the phrase reflects the cooperative nature of their relationship post-separation.

“She and I are on the same team for life,” he added. "That's what we say to each other. So no, I never thought that was about us. She never thought it was about us and everyone else kind of feeding into the fire. Great strategy move, but nah."

Amid all the rumors, Scooter Braun opened up about going through a divorce and how it shaped him. He admitted the breakup had a deeper effect on him than any work-related problems, including public drama or gossip around celebrities. He called it a period of sharp emotional insight, saying it forced him to face parts of himself he had been ignoring. The divorce, as he explained, helped him shed the public persona he spent years building and reconnect with who he is.

"No one in my family had ever been divorced," he said. "And at that time, I had built up this foundation of Scooter because I didn't think Scott was strong enough. I didn't know that yet."

During his talk with Robay, Scooter Braun pointed out that even though public attention often fixates on celebrity conflicts or rumors, what matters most in his life is growing as a person and being there for his family.
