Rebecca Balding, Soap and Charmed Actor, Dies at 73

Balding passed away Monday after a battle with ovarian cancer.

    Rebecca Balding, known for roles in Soap and the original Charmed, died Monday from ovarian cancer at the age of 73.

    Balding's husband, writer-director James L. Conway, announced her death in a statement.

    Balding was best known for playing Carol David — an attorney who becomes pregnant after seducing gay TV commercial director Jodie Dallas (Billy Crystal) — on the ABC sitcom Soap. Balding appeared in 19 episodes of Soap from 1978 to 1980.

    She also played Elise Rothman, Alyssa Milano's boss in Charmed, and Corky Crandall in the 1970s sitcom Makin' It.

    Balding also made guest appearances on many different TV shows, including Melrose Place, ER, Beverly Hills, 90210, 7th Heaven, Home Improvement, Family Ties, Starsky and Hutch, The Bionic Woman, and more.

    Balding is survived by her husband, her daughters Sarah and Kathleen, and her grandchildren.
