Cinephiles and fans of Back to the Future star Michael J. Fox couldn't be thrilled as the senior actor is set to return to acting. Fox last appeared in one of the seasons of the CBS drama series The Good Fight. The 63-year-old actor, after a five-year hiatus, returns to acting and will be joining the cast of the popular Apple TV original series Shrinking alongside Jason Segel and Harrison Ford. He will be appearing as a guest star in the upcoming third season of the show, which is scheduled to be released in 2026, however, the exact date of release hasn't been announced yet.
Created by Brett Goldstein, Jason Segel, and Bill Lawrence, the Apple TV original series, Shrinking, revolves around a lamenting therapist, Jimmy Laird, who has lost his wife and is going through a rough patch. With nothing much to lose anymore, he tries a new method in which he becomes brutally honest with his patients and tells them exactly what he thinks about them.
It was Apple TV that broke the exciting news about Michael J. Fox joining the cast of Shrinking, on Instagram with a joint post with him. The caption of the post read:
"Big feelings incoming. Michael J. Fox joins the Shrinking cast as a guest star in season 3."

Fox, who has been married to actress Tracy Pollan for almost 35 years, shares four children with her: Sam, Aquinnah, Esmé, and Schuyler. With an acting career that spans over 40 years, Fox was one of the most scusseful actors in Hollywood who collaborated with renowned directors like Robert Zemeckis and Davis Guggenheim.
According to reports, he was diagnosed with parkinson's disease in 1991, but he kept it a secret until he went public in 1998. Besides being a well-established actor, Fox is also an author and activist. While he wrote a bunch of memoirs about his life experiences, he advocated for people with parkinson's disease. Not to mention, he runs a non-profit organization, which was founded in 2020, the Michael J. Fox Foundation, that focuses on finding a cure for parkinson's disease.
The five-time Emmy-winning actor, Fox, in a November 2024 interview with ET, opened up about his love for acting. The Teen Wolf actor said:
"I was good at it and it’s fun to be good at things. It’s really nice if you go into something and you say, ‘I know what to do here, I know what to bring to it.’"
Fox went ahead and talked about how he loves working with other actors, and said:
"That’s the great thing about acting is it’s collaborative. You work with people that are just amazing."
