UNO, the dynamic card game owned by entertainment and toy company Mattel, is denying rumors that it will be played at casino tables in Las Vegas. The company took to its social media pages to confirm that UNO is not a casino game and will not be played on the floors for the foreseeable future.
Apologizing to its fans for the build up of expectation, the company wrote,
“we’re sorry for the confusion.”
While denying the rumors that it would be played on casino floors, UNO said,
“Hey UNO Fans, A rumor has come to our attention that there will be UNO tables on the casino floors in Las Vegas. Sounds wild, huh? We hate to be the bearers of bad news but the casino floor isn't ready for us yet.”
Providing insight into why it is not feasible to play the card game in a casino-based context, the company said,
“We've been told that while they do have tight security, it's not robust enough for UNO at this time. This isn't a Reverse card.”
The company did have positive news for its fans and lovers who would like to play the card game in a social context outside their fans. Sharing details about the upcoming plans that it has for the game, the company wrote,
“While we get this sorted out, the UNO Social Club is rolling out to bars in Los Angeles, New York City, Chicago, Atlanta and Austin this August. Stay wild, The UNO Team”
In May 2025, Mattel announced that the company would be debuting the UNO Social Club in July. The UNO Social Club is meant to create a space where people can gather together and play their beloved card game alongside other fun offerings, according to a press release.
The first UNO Social Club will take place from July 18 to July 20 at the Palms Casino Resort in Las Vegas. Fans of the game have an exciting chance to win a stay at one of the Resort’s suites decorated especially for the occasion and get a chance to enjoy UNO-themed activities on offer by posting a TikTok video using the Reverse Card filter on the video-sharing platform.
As per the press release, the UNO Social Club will feature activities such as UNO Golf, team-based UNO matches, and a knockout game called UNO Show 'em No Mercy.
The Las Vegas Review Journal noted that Mattel’s vice president and head of games, Ray Adler, discussed the special venture in a press release and said,
“We created UNO Social Clubs to reimagine what game night can be — bringing people together for real-world fun, connection, and a bit of friendly competition. The UNO Social Club in Las Vegas is just the beginning, and we’re excited to see how these new experiences inspire players to show up, play hard and make unforgettable memories.”
While speaking to Parade Magazine, Adler also noted the game’s uniting characteristics and said,
“UNO is a great connector. It transcends ages and generations…Las Vegas is such an iconic destination in terms of entertainment and gaming that Mattel saw it as a great place to get this started.”
According to Parade Magazine, the UNO Social Club will also travel to the Club Tee Gee in Los Angeles, the Cowgirl in New York City, The Empty Bottle in Chicago, Ormsby’s in Atlanta and Murray’s Tavern in Austin in the month of August.
