Carol Burnett is returning to television. The comedy legend will star opposite Kristen Wiig in Apple TV+ comedy Mrs. American Pie.

The new series is set in the early 1970s and follows Maxine Simmons (Wiig) as she attempts to join Palm Beach high society. Burnett will play Norma, a long-standing member of high society who knows everyone's secrets and is even keeping some of her own. Based on the novel of the same name by Juliet McDaniel, Mrs. American Pie also stars Laura Dern, Allison Janney, Leslie Bibb, Josh Lucas, and Ricky Martin.

Mrs. American Pie marks Burnett's first series regular role since The Carol Burnett Show ended. The iconic series ran from 1967-1978 on CBS, before returning for nine more episodes in 1991.

A release date for Mrs. American Pie has not yet been announced.
