The "teary eyed goodbye" comes after reports of the actress clashing with show creator Sam Levinson.

Fan-favorite character Kat Hernandez is leaving Euphoria.

In a post to her Instagram stories, Barbie Ferreira wrote "after four years of getting to embody the most special and enigmatic character Kat, I'm having to say a very teary eyed goodbye." This blow comes after reports earlier this year that Ferreira had butt heads with show creator Sam Levinson, pushing Ferreira to walk off set. Levinson allegedly cut her screen time as a result, but HBO has denied these rumors. Despite this, however, Kat did have a notably uninspired storyline in the show's second season.

Euphoria's first season saw Kat come into her own via sex work, a style revamp, and some serious self-actualization, developing Ferreira's role with nuance and intrigue. Season 2, however, relegated her to the sidelines, where she was often left to simply react to other characters' storylines.

"I hope many of you could see herself in her like I did. And that she brought you joy to see her journey into the character she is today," Ferreira wrote. "I put all my care and love into her and I hope you guys could feel it. Love you Katherine Hernandez."

HBO has not commented on Ferreira's statement. No word yet on how Euphoria plans to address Kat's departure.
