Spain's Big Brother embroiled in controversy after disturbing footage emerges of a contestant being shown her alleged sexual assault

Footage from 2017 obtained by Spanish newspaper El Confidencial shows a Spanish Big Brother contestant being brought into the show's diary room, where she is shown footage of her being allegedly assaulted by a male contestant. In the video, which doesn't make clear if she knew that the alleged assault occurred, the housemate "grows visibly distressed as the video unspools in the diary room, and asks the show’s unseen producers to turn it off. The producers then tell her not to talk about it before sending in a psychologist to speak with her," according to Variety. Big Brother owner Endemol Shine says the footage has been turned over to Spanish authorities in encrypted form.
