Simon Cowell undergoes surgery to put a metal rod into his back after electric bike accident

The 60-year-old America's Got Talent judge broke his back when he fell off an e-bike in the courtyard of his Malibu house on Saturday. "Simon had surgery overnight and is doing okay this morning. It was a five-hour surgery and he has had to have a number of fusions and metal rod put into his back," a source tells people, adding: "He landed on his back when he fell from the bike. The injuries are bad but he's also been told he was lucky." Before the accident, Cowell was scheduled to film AGT's live show from Universal Studios on Tuesday.
