CBS renews Love Island for Season 2 despite underwhelming ratings

“The passion of Love Island's audience is incredible,” said CBS Entertainment president Kelly Kahl in announcing the news at the TV press tour. “The intensity of their social media engagement has created tremendous enthusiasm for the series here at the network. We love the show’s creative execution and can’t wait for next season.” Kahl hinted at the renewal in an interview with The Hollywood Reporter published last week, saying: "We never underestimated how hard it was going to be to speak to an audience that, frankly, doesn't watch CBS on a regular basis."
