British royal watchers are puzzled by U.S. media -- specifically, Gayle King -- controlling the narrative following Oprah with Meghan and Harry

The CBS This Morning co-anchor and best friend of Oprah Winfrey has revealed a number of tidbits this week, thanks to her connection with Prince Harry and Meghan Markle, including that Harry had spoken last week to Prince Charles and Prince William in conversations that were "not productive." She added: “No one in the royal family has talked to Meghan yet.” Royal commentator Richard Fitzwilliams says it's unprecedented for an American broadcaster to reveal private royal family conversations. Katie Nicholl, royal editor for Vanity Fair and the author of Harry and Meghan: Life, Loss and Love, says she was “really shocked” to see the couple “using Gayle King as their mouthpiece, not least because we heard so much from them previously that we didn’t expect there to be a running commentary from their friends in the media.” ALSO: Piers Morgan tries to lecture Gayle King about journalism, calling her Harry and Meghan's "PR mouthpiece."
