ABC adds Ryan Seacrest to its Oscars red carpet pre-show

Seacrest will pull double duty on Sunday, working E! Live from the Carpet before joining ABC's Oscars Live on the Red Carpet for its final half-hour. Seacrest will appear on E!'s pre-show with Giuliana Rancic from 2 p.m. to 4:30 p.m., at which point he'll join ABC's coverage, which kicks off an hour earlier at 3:30 p.m. ABC presumably thought Seacrest would be a natural fit since he already a big part of its network as host of American Idol and co-host of Live with Kelly and Ryan. This year's more prominent role will be a change for Seacrest after being a minimal and muted presence on E! Oscars red carpet last year following his sexual misconduct scandal.
