R&B singer Tremaine Aldon Neverson, who goes by the stage name Trey Songz, is under a police investigation after a recent altercation with a photographer at The Ivy in Huntington, New York.

However, a representative for Neverson claimed the incident was a "result" of "increasingly aggressive paparazzi" who invaded Trey's "personal space."

In a statement made to Complex, Ted Anastasiou, a legal rep for the singer, noted that the media was "unfairly turning an unfinished story" into "click-bait" to sell a story.

Calling it "lazy and unfair" reporting, Ted continued:

"What happened at The Ivy was the result of increasingly aggressive paparazzi invading an artist’s personal space, conduct that puts everyone at risk and a trend that’s impacting not just Trey but artists everywhere."

The incident took place at the Ivy Kitchen & Bar in Huntington. The venue hired photographer Isaa Mansoor to record Trey Songz as he performed for an event there on Saturday, July 12, 2025.

Towards the end of the event, the owner asked Mansoor for a shot of the musician next to Ivy's logo.

However, as he began filming, things allegedly went sideways. Mansoor reportedly ended up being thrown against the wall with two of his cameras smashed.

The photographer later filed a police complaint.

Mansoor claimed his scuffle with Trey Songz ended with him suffering physical injuries and equipment damage worth $5,000

In his statement, Ted Anastasiou noted that Trey Songz has been "fully cooperating" with the authorities. Asserting that the singer "disputes the characterization" of events being reported, he added:

"(He) looks forward to the facts, not speculation, speaking for themselves."

According to Billboard, on Sunday, Issa Mansoor took to his Instagram to share a video of the altercation (since deleted).

In the clip, titled "Trey Songz assaults me for trying to do my job," the photographer explained that the Ivy owner hired him to capture the R&B singer as he performed at the venue.

He pointed out that Neverson had been irritated with fans who kept approaching him for photos and videos.

Upon the request of the owner, Mansoor went to get a final shot of Songz near the Ivy's logo.

However, his request was declined, with the video seemingly showing the singer lunging at Mansoor.

At one point in the clip, the restaurant's owner could be heard telling Songz:

"Yo chill, chill, that’s my guy."

To which, the Can't Be Friends hitmaker replied, "I don’t give a f** who it is bro," before clenching his fists in front of the owner.

Mansoor claimed Trey Songz punched him on the side of his head and threw him against a wall. Per Complex, he later approached the police before heading to the hospital, where he received a CT scan and an X-ray.

Per the outlet, the photographer claimed to have sustained a concussion, migraine, and ankle pain and was prescribed medication for the same.

Further, he alleged that the R&B artist destroyed his camera equipment worth over $5,000, reported Billboard.

The Suffolk County Police Department confirmed they were investigating the incident, telling the outlet no one has been charged yet.

An alleged witness shared a post on TikTok (@elijahxiiimusic) claiming that Trey Songz "tried to pop off on a girl."

Per the user, worried that the interaction was caught on the camera, the singer allegedly "smacked the phone" off someone before approaching Mansoor (also seen in the video) and "ripped the camera out of his hand" and "threw it on the floor." Mansoor noted Songz was going to "court."

The R&B singer is known for his violent outbursts. Back in 2017, he pled guilty to punching a police officer after a concert in Detroit.

He again got into an altercation with the authorities in 2021 (after an NFL game) and was arrested. Cops subsequently chose not to press charges.
