Doja Cat uploaded a TikTok video on Tuesday (July 29, 2025), making fun of Sydney Sweeney's recent ad campaign with American Eagle. The artist, whose real name is Amala Ratna Zandile Dlamini, repeated the actress's dialogue, which included a word play with "genes" and "jeans."
For the unversed, the American Eagle ad campaign had the tagline, "Sydney Sweeney has great jeans." This, along with the wordplay, led netizens to believe the brand was allegedly promoting eugenics.
Sydney Sweeney received backlash for allegedly s*xualizing herself in the ad. It is worth noting that the Euphoria actress previously garnered criticism for launching her bathwater soap called Sydney's Bathwater Bliss.
Her ad campaign is being compared to the controversial Brooke Shields Calvin Klein Jeans ad from 1980, which reportedly has s*xual undertones.
The X page Pop Base uploaded Doja Cat's TikTok with Sweeney's ad. The tweet has now gone viral, garnering over 160,000 likes.

One user (@ahmademjayy) pointed out that Doja Cat has been exposed in the past for being active in controversial chat rooms.
"Acting she wasn't in racial chatrooms showing feet and wearing a Sam Hyde shirt," they wrote.
Some fans supported Doja for calling out the American Eagle ad campaign. One user (@HollywoodGem6) jokingly said that they would like to have Doja Cat and Cardi B make a skit based on the ad.
"The way doja is 100% right this white supremacist campaign catering to white incel men is extremely problematic," one netizen wrote.
"Ima need Cardi B & Doja to get together and do a skit or something!" another netizen added.
"Doja cat an entertainer even when shes off stage is why i like her," another X user wrote.
Some netizens bashed the artist, saying she was "jealous" of Sydney Sweeney. They also noted that Doja Cat reportedly bleaches her skin to "appear whiter."
"It's ironic that a black woman who intentionally modifies her looks to appear whiter, is mocking a white actress," one netizen wrote.
"Says the racist jealous woman who bleaches her skin white, wears blonde wigs and makes believe she's not black," another internet user wrote.
"That American Eagle campaign made Sydney more money than @Dojacat has seen in her whole life combined. It's jealously, nothing more. Doja does not care about social issues in the least," another user added.
The artist was cancelled in 2020, after her old clips from chat rooms surfaced. Her 2015 song, Dindu Nuffin, was also brought up by netizens who claimed Doja used a slur targeted towards Black people who face police brutality.
Hashtags like #OnlyKlans and #DojaCatIsOverParty trended on X (formerly known as Twitter). In a since-deleted video, Doja addressed the controversy. She denied saying anything racist back then. Then she apologized, explaining that she had participated in those chat rooms when she was a child.
"I've used public chat rooms to socialize since I was a child. I shouldn't have been on some of those chat room sites, but I personally have never been involved in any racist conversations. I'm sorry to everyone I offended," she stated.
Meanwhile, Sydney Sweeney has not responded to the online backlash for the American Eagle ad.
