Ozzy Osbourne’s daughters Kelly and Aimee Osbourne were estranged before his passing. The Black Sabbath member's family announced his death in a joint statement shared on Instagram on Tuesday, July 22, 2025.

The message noted that Ozzy was "with his family" and "surrounded by love" when he died. His wife, Sharon, and children Jack, Kelly, Aimee, and Louis signed the post.

Ozzy Osbourne married his manager, Sharon Arden, in July 1982. The couple share three children—Aimee, Kelly, and Jack. He also shares Elliot (adopted), Louis, and Jennifer with first wife Thelma Riley. Notably, Elliot and Jessica were absent from the family announcement.

This was the first time Kelly and Aimee Osbourne have publicly associated with each other since the former hinted about their estranged relationship. During her 2021 appearance on Dax Shepard’s podcast, Armchair Expert, Kelly revealed she hasn't been in contact with her elder sister.

Aimee Osbourne left home at 16, as she did not want to be a part of The Osbournes

During her May 2021 appearance on Armchair Expert, Kelly explained she didn't talk with her elder sister, Aimee Osbourne. She elaborated:

"We’re just really different. She doesn’t understand me and I don’t understand her."

Both sisters have taken after their father and pursued a career in music. Kelly is also a fashion designer and television personality, hosting shows like Project Catwalk and Fashion Police. She has embraced the limelight. Meanwhile, her elder sister has found fame on her own standing but has kept her private life away from the media.

According to People magazine, during a June 2018 episode of The Talk, their mother, Sharon, hinted at the rift in the family. Referencing their MTV reality TV show, The Osbournes, she explained her eldest daughter didn't want to be a part of the series. Noting that Aimee "didn't want to grow up on camera," she added:

"I know that my eldest girl, Aimee, left home at 16 and she couldn’t live in our house because we were filming and it drove her insane."

The MTV show centered around the lives of the rock star and his offbeat family. It ran for four seasons between 2002 and 2005. It was a huge hit and even earned a Primetime Emmy for Outstanding Reality Program. Sharon explained that Aimee moved out soon after. Elaborating on her daughter's thinking, she stated:

"She hated the idea — it was appalling to her. And so she left at 16 and I regret every day that she did."

In a September 2015 conversation with Independent, Aimee Osbourne detailed her decision to not be a part of the show. She explained that at the time she was "trying to figure out" herself in the "chaos of family life." She rhetorically questioned:

"Why on earth would I want that portrayed on television?"

Elaborating on her reasoning, Aimee Osbourne explained that she wanted herself, her parents, and her siblings, who were young and "very impressionable."

The ARO vocalist revealed that the family had "shouting matches" over filming the reality show. Eventually, she was outvoted and chose to move out. Despite wanting to "stay at home a little longer," she made peace with her choice. She explained:

"It didn't matter what I thought, ultimately. This was their path, their decision, and they were of course at liberty to take the opportunity. Which they did."

Aimee Osbourne also pointed out that growing up, she never felt that she wasn't loved or taken care of. The songstress told the outlet she was an introvert in a family of "voluble extroverts." Aimee added that she was close to her parents but not as much with her sibling, adding:

"I wouldn't say there is an ease between us. But there is an acceptance. Do we socialise? No."

Elsewhere, Aimee Osbourne told the Independent she and her family have different approaches to fame. They love it and choose fame to "connect with people. Meanwhile, she was the "opposite."

The ARO member echoed the sentiments in a 2020 interview with Q1043's Out of the Box (radio show). She noted that growing up with a famous father, she "valued (her) privacy within that family."
