Building the Band, Netflix’s new music competition series, is nearing the end of its band formation phase. Released on July 11, 2025, the show follows contestants as they create six different bands without initially seeing each other. The show is hosted by AJ McLean and features a judging panel of Nicole Scherzinger, Kelly Rowland, and the late Liam Payne. Its format includes blind auditions, where singers are evaluated solely on their vocals and group chemistry.

One of the standout groups so far is band number two, made up of Shade Jenifer, Landon Boyce, Malik Heard, and Bradley Rittmann. The group first performed together in episode 3, delivering Bruno Mars’ “Finesse.” Following the performance, Nicole Scherzinger noted that the group members fit well together.

Fans have since been eager to know what name the group will adopt moving forward. On July 14, Shade shared a video on TikTok with Landon that featured the text:

“POV: 1/2 OF COOKIES & CREAM.”

This sparked speculation that the band might be called Cookies & Cream. Fans quickly picked up on the possible spoiler, commenting support for the group and expressing excitement about the name. With the next set of episodes arriving July 16, viewers are watching closely for confirmation.

Band number two's performance drew praise from Building the Band judges and fans

In episode 3 of Building the Band, the members of band number two—Shade, Landon, Malik, and Bradley—performed “Finesse” by Bruno Mars as their first song together. Their blend and stage presence made an immediate impression on both the judges and viewers. Nicole Scherzinger noted during the performance that they “fit really well together.” The group stood out as one of the more cohesive units formed during the early episodes.

Since then, fans have taken to social media to praise their energy and musical chemistry. One viewer wrote, “The performance was amazing,” while another added, “Cookies & Cream team, I loveeeee the name.” The band has not officially confirmed a name, but the clip shared by Shade and the interactions that followed suggest the group may already be identifying themselves that way internally.

Even Landon joined the discussion in the comments, tagging Malik and Bradley with, “Yo Malik and Brad, wya??” The exchange hinted that all four members are aware of the name tease and may be getting ready to announce it soon. With only one band left to be formed, focus is shifting toward how these groups will compete moving forward in Building the Band.

Social media reactions suggest growing support for 'Cookies & Cream'

Shade’s July 14 post labeled “POV: 1/2 OF COOKIES & CREAM” quickly caught the attention of Building the Band fans. The video featured both Shade and Landon, and users in the comment section reacted with excitement, suggesting they already consider the group a favorite. One fan commented, "Not me eating cookies & cream ice cream rn."

Though unofficial, the reaction indicates the group name might already be resonating with viewers. The timing of the post—just days before episodes five through seven are released—has also built anticipation around whether the name will be confirmed in the show. With only one band left to be completed this boy band has emerged as one of the most talked-about groups from the show so far.

Building the Band’s format keeps the competition wide open but social media reactions may influence how fans support the bands in later stages. If Cookies & Cream does become the official name it would mark one of the first group names to emerge publicly ahead of the announcement giving the members early visibility among viewers.
