Liam thought he caught his wife cheating on him, got mad, got drunk, and cheated on her. 

Then it turned out that it wasn't his wife he caught, but a mannequin version of her. 

So now, he's groveling for forgiveness from his wife, and he's beginning to realize that he doesn't deserve it, because he's asking her to forgive what he wouldn't.
