Stephen "tWitch" Boss, former Ellen DeGeneres Show DJ and So You Think You Can Dance All-Star, has died. He was 40 years old.

Boss' wife, Allison Holker Boss, confirmed he had died of suicide. "It is with the heaviest of hearts that I have to share my husband Stephen has left us," Allison said in a statement to People. "Stephen lit up every room he stepped into. He valued family, friends and community above all else and leading with love and light was everything to him. He was the backbone of our family, the best husband and father, and an inspiration to his fans."

The couple shares three young children. "To say he left a legacy would be an understatement, and his positive impact will continue to be felt," she continued. "I am certain there won't be a day that goes by that we won't honor his memory."

Boss' career took off on competition series like The Wade Robson Project and Star Search before he made his mark on So You Think You Can Dance in 2008. He finished as runner-up in Season 4, and later returned as an All-Star. When the show returned in 2022, Boss appeared as a judge.

He was also well-known as DJ on The Ellen DeGeneres Show, which he began in a guest capacity in 2014 before filling the role full-time. In 2020, he was made co-executive producer on the show.

"Stephen, we love you, we miss you, and I will always save the last dance for you," said Allison. Boss is survived by his wife and three children Zaia, Maddox, and Weslie.
