LiAngelo Ball has asked for a divorce from Rashida Nicole after she told everyone they're having a baby. He filed the papers on July 3 at a courthouse in Southern California, TMZ Sports reports. People on social media are talking about how this happened—just a week after Nicole shared the baby news on June 26. Ball seemed okay with Nicole's pregnancy post at first. He liked it and left a comment with a heart emoji and a lock and key. This made people think everything was fine between them. But the divorce papers tell a different story.

“When people conversate about my personal life, it don’t touch me or bother me too much,” GELO (real name: LiAngelo Ball) told Billboard News. “Like I see it, of course, because you know, everybody got a phone, but it don’t rub me the wrong way or nothing because nobody really go [through] what I go through every day. You not me, for real. So it don’t mean sh–, for real.”

“I don’t even know half the people saying anything,” he tells Billboard. “And everybody I know rock with me. Sh–, there it is. I be feeling good when I step out. Got love.”

We don't know when they got married. In February, people saw them leaving a courthouse wearing matching white clothes. This made some think they had just tied the knot. The last time anyone saw them out together was at the BET Awards on June 9.

Rashida Nicole, who runs a podcast and has a big following online, let everyone know on Instagram that she's expecting a baby. She opened up about how she's feeling and said thanks to her daughter for being there for her during this time. This baby will be Nicole's second kid and Ball's third. Ball already has two children LaVelo and LaNiyah, with Nikki Mudarris, who he used to be with.

Earlier this year, Mudarris accused Ball of leaving their family shortly after the birth of their second child, alleging he had moved on to a new relationship.

Even with all the buzz about his private matters, Ball keeps showing up in public. He joined a live video chat with Kai Cenat, a popular online personality, but didn't bring up the divorce or the baby news. In a different chat with Billboard News, Ball talked about being in the spotlight, saying that what people say online doesn't get to him.

The pair made their romance public at the beginning of this year. Nicole showed up at Ball's "Tweaker" show during the 2025 NBA All-Star Game in February. After that, Ball has been pushing forward with his music. He inked a deal with Def Jam in January and dropped "Tweaker," which climbed to No. 29 on the Billboard Hot 100.

A new version featuring Lil Wayne came out in February. His first album League of My Own, will hit the shelves on July 18. At this point, Ball and Nicole haven't said anything else to the public about the divorce or how they plan to raise their kids together in the future.

Ball emphasized that he values the opinions of his close circle over those of strangers online and added that he sees the commentary but does not internalize it.
