Rapper Fat Joe talked about how he made the Grammy-nominated 2016 song "All The Way Up" on an episode of the Joe & Jada podcast. Fat Joe and Remy Ma performed the track which also featured French Montana. The song got two Grammy nominations for Best Rap Performance and Best Rap Song. The track was a big hit but Fat Joe's latest comments have caught people's attention because of what he said about how much credit he thinks French Montana takes for the song's success.
"You know your man French Montana, that n***a delusional man," Joe said on the podcast. "We did 'All The Way Up' with French Montana, he be talking about it's that golden voice... He just take too much credit for it... There's a lot of n****s signed to delusional records. I'm being honest with you. There's a lot of artists signed to delusional records."
Just a few weeks ago, he told a personal story about how the Five Percent Nation shaped his early life in the Bronx. His co-host Jadakiss reacted with laughter and skepticism which got people talking even more. This revelation caught many off guard and sparked discussions among the show's audience.
In addition to his recent podcast remarks Fat Joe is facing legal proceedings stemming from a lawsuit filed by Terrance Dixon his former hype man. Filed in New York, the lawsuit alleges a range of misconduct including coercive labor practices, financial fraud and intimidation. The civil suit seeks $20 million in damages and names Fat Joe as the primary respondent.
Besides his recent podcast comments, Fat Joe is dealing with a legal challenge from Terrance Dixon, who used to be his hype man. Dixon filed a lawsuit in New York that claims various wrongdoings such as forced labor, money fraud and threats. The civil case asks for $20 million in damages and lists Fat Joe as the main defendant. Fat Joe responded to these claims on his official Instagram saying they're all false and calling the lawsuit an attempt to get money from him.
In his post, he stressed that he won't be pushed around or forced into anything insisting that the accusations are made up.
If you get fired for doing something wrong, just take the L and live with it. But instead, they plot on your downfall as they watch you move on with your life," Joe wrote. "They decide to go after one of the things you value the most - your reputation. They figure they can make up the most insane stories and, if they threaten you with a lawsuit, then you'll pay and they'll feel like they finally won. Problem with your theory, I've never let anyone on the streets extort me, so how would I ever let a crooked attorney and a coward ex-hype man extort me?? I'm from the Bronx!"
So far, French Montana hasn't said anything about Fat Joe's latest podcast comments. The lawsuit is still under review by the courts and we expect to see more developments in the next few months.
