As Harlem rapper Max B's release date nears, the rapper is supposedly ready to forgive an old friend. The artist, whose birth name is Charly Wingate, has publicly stated that he’s ready to patch things up with Jim Jones, a friend and collaborator with whom he went through a very public falling out years ago.

Max B has been serving his time at Northern State Prison in New Jersey and is expected to be released as of November 9, 2025. During a recent appearance on Drink Champs, he opened up about his decade-long beef with Jones and how his time in prison has shifted his perspective.

"Listen, Jim said a bunch of hard shit about me. So, we all say hard shit about each other, okay? Jim done wished me dead, all type of shit. It's all good. Listen, man. It's love, man. I want to start over. I'm a new man. I'm a married man. I got four kids." Max said.

According to Complex, Max B and Jim Jones’ beef started in 2008, when Max parted ways with Jones’ Byrd Gang record label. What started as a quarrel over contracts and money quickly became a feud with diss tracks, public taunts and friction between their entourages.

But most of the controversies died down after Max was convicted in 2009 on conspiracy charges in connection with a failed robbery in Fort Lee, New Jersey. Max, who had been ordered to serve 75 years in prison, is being released this year after a plea agreement last year.

More about Max B's previous and current statements about his feud with Jim Jones

The 47-year-old rapper says he is all about getting his career and life back on track and leaving all the drama behind. He expressed his wish to produce better music and art.

"So, you know, this little opportunity, I get this one last ride. The way I'm a give it to y'all is...I'ma justdo what I do best, music and media and I'm a justgive y'all great work and consistency and entertainment." He remarked.

This is not the first time Max has gone into detail about the feud with Jones. Earlier in interviews, he had described their breakup as a result of “egos clashing” and had conceded that both sides made mistakes.

“It was just egos clashing, a lack of respect. That sh*t don’t mix well, and next thing you know, we beefin... I think today we would’ve handled the situation differently." He said in an 2019 interview posted on his YouTube channel.

Apart from addressing his feud with Jones, Max also stated that he aims to document his coming into the society in a “come-home documentary,” with footage not only of his musical comeback but also of his work as an emerging chef.

“What people don't know is that Biggavelle is an [aspiring] chef... I will be coming out on my culinary journey. He said in his recent interview with Drink Champs.

Music does continue to play a major part in his plans. On his first night out, Max said he wanted to record a 20-track album, calling the process of doing so his “escape” and his peace. He also listed younger rappers as potential collaborators including A Boogie and Cash Cobain (Yahoo Entertainment).

Max is also working on a book about how he not only survived but thrived during his 20 years in prison with the aim of inspiring others. He also talked about breaking generational curses and leaving a lasting legacy for his family and the Harlem community.
