Squid Game reportedly only cost $21.4 million, less than Dave Chappelle's The Closer

According to Bloomberg's Lucas Shaw, Netflix paid just $21.4 million to acquire what has become its biggest hit. "I have obtained internal documents disclosing the cost and financial performance of several Netflix shows," Shaw tweeted. "The Dave Chappelle special (The Closer) cost $24.1M. Sticks & Stones cost $23.6M. Both of those specials cost more than an entire season of Squid Game." Squid Game, at less than $3 million per episode, cost less than the per-episode costs of its longstanding hits The Crown and Stranger Things. Netflix's Squid Game spending was part of a $500 million investment in South Korean entertainment for the platform.
