Richard Gere signs on for his first major TV role, playing a media baron on BBC's MotherFatherSon

Gere will play a self-made American mogul with media outlets around the world, including in London, where his character's self-destructive son runs one of his newspapers. "It’s been almost 30 years since I worked in television," said Gere. "I’m so pleased to be working now with the BBC on this extraordinary eight-hour project with such talented people and which resonates so much to the time we live in.” Gere will be joined on the eight-part series by Helen McCrory as his estranged British heiress wife and Billy Howle as his 30-year-old son.
