Netflix has discovered that many of its viewers want to watch TV shows and movies from around the world

Despite a surge in nationalism around the world, the streaming service seems to be pushing cultural boundaries and sparking new conversations with its focus on international shows. For instance, the British comedy Sex Education has led to new conversations in Thailand, where a lack of sex education has resulted in a high rate of teen pregnancy. "What we’re learning is that people have very diverse and eclectic tastes, and if you provide them with the world’s stories, they will be really adventurous, and they will find something unexpected,” says Cindy Holland, Netflix’s vice president for original content.
