Kelsey Grammer to reunite with Back to You co-star Patricia Heaton on Carol's Second Act

Grammer, in his return to the network sitcom world, is joining the CBS comedy for its season finale in a role that will become recurring if the show is renewed for Season 2. The casting reunites two comedy greats, Grammer and Heaton, who co-starred in the 2007-2008 Fox sitcom Back to You, playing local TV station co-anchors and exes who share a daughter. Back to You was also the sitcom Steve Levitan and Christopher Lloyd created before they went on to great success in creating Modern Family for ABC. Deadline reports that on Carol's Second Act, Grammer will play Richard, "a formidable force who shocks Carol (Heaton) and the rest of the doctors at Loyola Memorial Hospital with a revelation that will affect all of them."
