HBO says a Sopranos spinoff isn't happening: "I don’t think there’s any reason to open that back up"

The Sopranos creator David Chase signing a five-year deal with WarnerMedia last October fueled speculation that a new Sopranos series was on the way, especially since he had just released prequel movie The Many Saints of Newark. At the time, WarnerMedia CEO of Studios and Networks Ann Sarnoff confirmed to Deadline that "we’re talking to David about a new series, Sopranos related, on HBO Max." But HBO and HBO Max chief content officer Casey Bloys told Deadline today that a Sopranos revival isn't happening, saying "I just don’t think anything with The Sopranos family is on the cards." Bloys added “I don’t think David has any interest in doing anything more with The Sopranos. The Sopranos is a terrific and classic show. I don’t think there’s any reason to open that back up. I think maybe the Superbowl ad… was an indication that someone’s going back. As far as I know, I don’t think he has any plans to do that."
