Chernobyl creator understands if viewers want to skip difficult scenes

Monday's Episode 4, in particular, contained some especially hard-to-watch scenes. But creator Craig Mazin gets if viewers don't want to watch those scenes: “Watching people watch it now for the first time, I’m struck," he tells Indiewire. "Sometimes I almost get a little paternal, like, ‘OK, if you don’t want to watch this part, you don’t have to’ or ‘This is going to be a little hard now,'” Mazin said. “But almost to a person, they say this is a tough thing to watch, but it’s important to watch it and that’s the highest praise of all, I think.”
