Atlanta cops recently took rapper Lil Woody into custody over illegal street racing. According to his arrest records found on the website of the Fulton County Sheriff's Office, the rapper was booked at the Atlanta City Detention Center on Thursday, July 3, 2025, and released on a $1,300 bail bond the same day.
Notably, in a news conference on Thursday, Atlanta police announced that Woody's arrest was part of a city-wide crackdown on street racing, per WSB-TV.
It saw three others being taken into custody over a separate street racing incident.

Lil Woody, whose real name is Kenneth Copeland, first made headlines when he became the prosecution's star witness in its RICO case against YSL (Young Stoner Life). It involved rapper Young Thug (a.k.a. Jeffery Lamar Williams) and his associates accused of gang-related crimes.
Prosecutors claimed YSL was a front for a street gang, Young Stoner Life.
During Thursday's news conference, Atlanta police noted that Copeland (and others) had been organizing street racing takeovers across the city, per WSB-TV. Lt. Rodney Jones stated:
"They’re not just individuals that’s just racing, we’re seeing a lot of escalated violence amongst those groups."
The police department's official page on Facebook later posted a video of one such event showing cars drifting around in the middle of a street, fireworks, and even guns seen through the car windows.
Citing Lil Woody's arrest warrant, Atlanta News First relayed that it stemmed from a "Wet and Wild" racing event that took place in Lawrenceville on June 22.
Quoting the document, the outlet wrote:
"(He was) knowingly present while actively participating in and helping facilitate the exhibition of illegal laying drags by throwing water ballons and hanging out of the sunroof of a car laying drags."
Per Lil Woody's arrest record show he has multiple driving-related charges, including one misdemeanor for reckless stunt driving and one for driving in a zig-zag course (or laying drags).
Other minor charges comprised driving on the wrong side of the road, failure to obey traffic control devices and signs, not using a turn signal, and erratic lane changes.
Additionally, the rapper has been charged with driving while having an expired (or no) license plate or decal and driving while having a suspended or revoked license.
According to Hot New Hip Hop, prior to news of Lil Woody's arrest making headlines, influencer Charleston White claimed responsibility for the rapper's arrest.
While White's post has since been deleted, Instagram user @nojumper later shared a video where the influencer could be heard making the declaration. The post also included a comment by White, reading:
"I told Woody wood pecer! Now he headed to Rice Street, with more charges pending against him! Play stupid games, win stupid prizes!!!! Shout out to Fulton and Gwinnett County!"
Per HNHH, Charleston White continued to joke about Lil Woody's arrest in a separate IG post (since deleted).
He reportedly boasted about being a "law abiding citizen" who "(told) on a gangster, killer, (and) snitch," while promoting an upcoming show.
While Copeland has been released on bail, he has not publicly commented on his arrest.
