    Gregg Glenn III, a Tulane University student and beloved Green Wave player, has passed away in a "tragic accident" at 22. College officials announced the unfortunate news in a statement shared on Monday, July 28, 2025, adding:

    "He was a talented student-athlete who enriched our lives with his spirit, dedication, and passion for both sports and academics."

    According to the release, Gregg grew up in Pompano Beach in South Florida. He was the eldest among his siblings and was known within the basketball community for his basketball skills. He was currently pursuing a degree in health and wellness at Tulane.

    According to a report by Fox 8 Live, Gregg Glenn III died in a swimming-related accident over the weekend.

    Gregg Glenn III was part of the team that won gold at the 2019 FIBA Under-16 AmeriCup

    According to Gregg Glenn III's profile on Tulane's website, he attended the Calvary Christian Academy, graduating high school as a four-star recruit in 2022. He boasts three Florida Association of Basketball Coaches All-State titles and even helped Team USA win a gold medal in the 2019 FIBA Under-16 AmeriCup in Brazil.

    Gregg initially attended the University of Michigan, playing four games with the Wolverines during his freshman year. During his sophomore year, the athlete transferred to Tulane University. He appeared as a forward with the Green Wave in 30 of the 31 games that season.

    During his junior year, Gregg Glenn III played in all 34 games for the Green Wave. According to the basketball team's website, he ended the season with an average of 10.6 points per game with a 49.8% shooting rate. He also recorded a career high of 22 points during the game against Tulsa in March. Notably, he ended the season being selected to the AAC Weekly Honor Roll two times—once on January 27 and later on March 3.

    In their statement, Tulane University noted:

    "Gregg was an outstanding athlete on our men’s basketball team and an individual who brought joy and light to those around him. His commitment to excellence inspired many of us."

    Meanwhile, the team's head coach, Ron Hunter, issued a statement expressing his loss. Noting that the team was "devastated," he added:

    "(Gregg) was not only an exceptional athlete but also a remarkable person who brought energy, dedication, and kindness to our team and community."

    The NBA team New Orleans Pelicans and the American Athletic Conference (AAC), too, issued statements, expressing their condolences to the Greggs' family.
