Netflix released episodes 8 and 9 of The Ultimatum: Queer Love Season 2 on July 2, 2025, bringing viewers one step closer to the season’s emotional conclusion. These episodes focused on final decisions, with each original couple reuniting after trial marriages to answer the ultimatum: commit to marriage or walk away.
After weeks of navigating new connections, unresolved emotions, and difficult conversations, the time had come for clarity. By the end of episode 9 of The Ultimatum: Queer Love, five of the six couples decided to get engaged—AJ and Britney, Haley and Pilar, Bridget and Kyle, Dayna and Magan, and Marie and Mel. Marita and Ashley were the only couple who chose to part ways before the reunion.
Some proposals came after growth and healing, while others left lingering questions about compatibility and long-term commitment. Here’s a closer look at who said yes during these final episodes—and the relationships that didn’t make it to that moment.
AJ and Britney got engaged in episode 9 of The Ultimatum: Queer Love after working through their differences. AJ said being engaged feels “awesome” and shared that their love has grown stronger. Britney explained that they’ve learned to listen to each other better since the show.
“I feel like we've developed a sense where we're just more in tune with each other, more attentive to each other, and everything that we both learned during our Ultimatum experience, we've been applying it to our real lives,” she said.
Haley and Pilar also got engaged. Haley shared at the reunion that she proposed just weeks after filming ended.
"I told Pilar once we left... She was dying to get a ring on her finger also, and so I told her within the next year I would make sure that I made it a priority to get down on one knee — and I did it less than a month later," she shared.
Their relationship grew stronger as Pilar opened up more, and her family started to accept their relationship. Bridget and Kyle, who were unsure about marriage at first, also said yes. At the reunion, they said they’re still engaged and living together. Bridget said things are “great,” and Kyle added that their love feels deeper now.
Dayna and Magan had many ups and downs but ended episode 9 by getting engaged. At The Ultimatum: Queer Love reunion, they shared that they’re still together and taking things slowly. Magan said bringing Dayna to Thanksgiving was a big step.
"I never really brought anyone home for Thanksgiving before, so it was nice. It was really cool," she shared.
Marie and Mel also got engaged, but their relationship didn’t last. Mel had doubts throughout the show, and Marie often felt like she was doing all the emotional work. At the reunion, they confirmed they had broken up. Marie explained,
“I started trying to do things a little bit more individual. I kind of set boundaries a little bit more," she shared. "I know the person who I said yes to was very hesitant on many different reasons..”
Even though they got engaged during the show, Marie and Mel’s split showed that saying yes doesn’t always mean things will work out. Only five couples got engaged, and not all of them stayed together after the show.
