The Bear is a psychological comedy-drama television series created and written by Christopher Storer, with Joanna Calo as the showrunner. The show stars Jeremy Allen White as Carmy Berzatto, an award-winning chef who returns to his hometown of Chicago to take over the sandwich shop left behind by his late brother.

The series debuted on Hulu on June 23, 2022, and has been renewed till season 5.

In the Primetime Emmy 2025 nominations announced on Tuesday, July 15, 2025, The Bear season 3 received 13 nods. A laudable feat in itself, it still fell significantly short of the 23 nominations received last year for season 2.

The latest nominations bring the total nods received by the show at the Emmys to a whopping number of 49.

As of writing, The Bear has won  21 Primetime Emmys (one for Outstanding Comedy Series), as well as five Golden Globes (one for Best Television Series – Musical or Comedy).

Some award shows have drawn criticism for nominating the show in comedic categories.

In spite of its comedy-drama classification, the series delves into more challenging psychological drama, exploring topics like trauma and suicide while maintaining realism and workplace stress.

The series' script, directing, acting, technical excellence, and production values have all won praise from critics. The Bear spans four seasons with a total of 38 episodes, each running approximately 20 to 70 minutes.

Both viewers and critics enjoy the show, as it has a 94% "fresh" certification and a 77% audience score on the movie and television rating website Rotten Tomatoes.

Exploring the storyline of The Bear season 3

Season 3 of The Bear continues with Carmy, Sydney, Richie, Natalie, and Tina as they work to take their gourmet dining establishment to new heights.

The story is driven by Carmy's unrelenting perfectionism, as he alters menus, rearranges kitchen procedures, and pressures his staff to meet Michelin-level standards—often at the expense of interpersonal relationships and team unity.

Sydney struggles with job insecurity as she deals with Carmy's vision and considers accepting a chef's offer at Ever.

As Natalie manages pregnancy and restaurant operations, Richie also changes, becoming a subtly trustworthy presence within the chaos.

Tina's past receives poignant attention in the episode Napkins, signifying her development into a kitchen leader.
