A poster claiming a Married with Children reunion movie was in the works is making its rounds online. The rumors began when Facebook user @YODA BBY ABY shared the artwork for the film on Tuesday, July 22, 2025. It included the message:
"THE BUNDYS ARE BACK!!!"
The post detailed that a "special movie event" was set to drop on Hulu this December. It continued to describe the plot, noting that the family patriarch, Al, had finally "saved enough" for a family trip to Oahu and Maui, adding:
"Joined by still-single Kelly and Bud, Al and Peg dive into a wild, laugh-packed Hawaiian adventure filled with their signature dysfunction."
It further claimed one could expect "outrageous comedy and classic Bundy mayhem" in the "reunion special" movie.
However, this is a fan-made poster, and no Married with Children movie is being produced. Notably, Facebook user @YODA BBY ABY has previously shared similar artworks for films and shows, claiming to be in production. Additionally, their profile reads the page was "100% satire and fake news."
Married with Children is a sitcom that aired on Fox between 1987 and 1997. The show follows the lives of the dysfunctional Bundy family living in Chicago. It stars Ed O'Neill as Al Bundy, a former high school football player turned hard-on-his-luck women's shoe salesman, and Katey Sagal as his lazy wife, Peggy. Meanwhile, Christina Applegate and David Faustino played their children, Kelly and Bud.
The series ran for 11 seasons and is one of the longest-running sitcoms, according to Fandom. Further, it was the first primetime television series to air on Fox. The show's s*xually charged humor and depiction of a dysfunctional family, unlike that of family sitcoms at the time, gave the Fox network a standing among the "big three" (ABC, CBS, and NBC).
Following the end of Married with Children in 1997, there were talks of a spin-off centered around Bud Bundy in September 2014, according to an article by the Hollywood Reporter. But the plans never materialized.
In May 2022, Deadline reported that an animated revival was in the works with the original cast reprising their roles. Per the outlet, Sony Pictures Television, which owned the rights to the original series, had been working on the project for over a year. Notably, the studio had reportedly "closed deals" with the four stars. Deadline also reported that Alex Carter, who was an executive producer on Family Guy, would serve as the showrunner.
According to IMDb, a synopsis of the Married with Children animated series explained that the Bundys moved to the "cheapest home" in Dumpwater, Florida, after a "string of misfortunes." It continued:
"As they get to know their Latin neighbors, war with HOA snobs, and yuck it up at their community pool, Al is desperate to be a big shot but continually gets fleeced in Florida, where the weather is sunny, but the people are shady."
In a May 2023 conversation with Vanity Fair, Christina Applegate confirmed that the original cast members were connected to the animated show. At the time, she explained that despite her multiple sclerosis, she could still record lines, stating:
"I can do voiceover stuff because I have to support my family and keep my brain working. I can’t really say much (about the animated series), but all I know is that all four of us are attached to it. It’s not in our hands now, so we’re just kind of waiting."
However, according to a July 2025 article on TV Line, the animated show has been canned.
Married with Children is available to stream on Hulu or Cozi TV.
