Debuting on May 15, 2025, the Danish thriller miniseries Secrets We Keep chronicles the story of Ruby Tan, a young au pair from the Philippines who goes missing in a wealthy district of Copenhagen, as well as the disclosure of secrets among her neighbors. Tightly packed six-part series created by Ingeborg Topsøe and directed by Per Fly mixes missing-person drama with a commentary on money and social power. On average, episodes last 34 to 38 minutes.

At its core, Secrets We Keep is a thriller with a social critique. It looks at how class, racial injustice, and institutional indifference intersect. Rich neighbors and unconcerned officials postpone the investigation into Ruby's fate, thus stressing how privilege may obstruct justice in the show.

Scenes in which local teens trade illicit recordings expose a more sordid side of suburban life and create voyeurism and concealed power relations. Emphasizing the unresolved "rot" that results from institutional failure, the ambiguity of the denouement, in which Ruby's death is pronounced a suicide despite obvious signs of foul play, underscores.

Secrets We Keep has a flawless Tomatometer rating of 100% and has garnered consistent praise from its opening weekend based on six reviews on Rotten Tomatoes. The reviews on the site read:

“doesn’t try to distract viewers by sending them down too many dead ends, and tells a story about class, race, and wealth in the process.”

Though some critics have said the speed is too quick, leaving little room for reflection, the reviews have been overwhelmingly positive. However, Sarah Musnicky of But Why Tho? remarks, rating it 6.5/10:

"A limited episode count... doesn't give enough beats for its audience to digest the discoveries unearthed."

Among Netflix's 2025 slate, Secrets We Keep distinguishes itself as a well-crafted suburban thriller that shuns easy answers. Praised for its amusing and provocative examination of societal shortcomings, the show has garnered accolades and a flawless Rotten Tomatoes rating. Its deeper-than-expected exploration of perfectly groomed lawns prompts viewers to consider privilege, duty, and the unsettling reality that secrets are never completely buried.
