"I don't wanna end up out of control": Courtney Stodden opens up about abusive relationship with Doug Hutchison as she heads into 3rd day of sobriety

Courtney Stodden shared a personal update, revealing she's three days into her sobriety journey. She's experiencing a lot emotionally and spending time reflecting. In a raw, tear-filled clip posted on Thursday on her Instagram handle, the 30-year-old said that the first days without alcohol are very hard.

She also mentioned that one significant issue she continues to face is her past marriage to actor Doug Hutchison, which occurred when Stodden was very young.

Courtney Stodden has opened up about the mind and body aches that come from facing old pain and trauma, much of it from her time with actor Doug Hutchison. She got married at 16, while Hutchison was 51. Stodden now sees that time as being thrown into a place she was not ready for, a place full of tricks, mind turmoil, and bad use of drinks.

She remembered that Hutchison drank a lot every day. Stodden says he often pushed her to drink too, using it to keep control. Stodden said the memories have been hitting hard, showing up alongside clear signs of stress like skin breakouts on her face and chest.

Stodden opens up about quitting alcohol and letting go of a painful past

In a conversation with DailyMail, Courtney Stodden shared the big change she made by cutting out alchohol. She talked about how it made her feel better in her mind. She used to drink to escape from the hard things people said and old wounds that had not gone away. But over time, the habit of drinking made her feel worse, not better. She said in the video:

"I don't wanna end up out of control....This breakup isn’t just with a substance—it’s with a version of myself I’m ready to leave behind."

It brought a lot of heavy feelings, confusion, and emotional ups and downs. Stodden said they didn't quit drinking just to break a habit, but to let go of a past self, one that was hurting and trying to escape the pain.

Courtney Stodden talked about the tough road to staying sober. She said that some of her close friends made it tough, even if they did not mean to. When her friends seemed sad or missed her fun, party self, Stodden started to think if they liked the real, sober her or just the one who drank. She noted that these times make her stronger and show her who her true friends are.
