Looking for your next binge-watch, or just need to fill an hour? Welcome to Your Weekly Watch List, our curated collection of the best shows on television. Here’s what to watch from Sunday, May 14 through Saturday, May 20.

This week, High Desert sees addict turned detective Patricia Arquette get into darkly comic trouble, Sisters unites Sarah Goldberg with the Irish relatives she didn’t know she had, and family sitcom Primo examines what it’s like to grow up with five very opinionated uncles.

    High Desert

    Wednesday, Apple TV+

When her life hits rock bottom, Patricia Arquette’s freewheeling addict decides to reinvent herself as a private eye in this Apple TV+ series set in the desert backwaters of California. With her hustler ex (Matt Dillon) offering dubious support, Arquette’s desperate Peggy is reluctantly hired by failing P.I. Bruce (Brad Garrett), though her straight-laced sister (Christine Taylor) is understandably skeptical of Peggy’s new gig. The comedy, from creators Nancy Fichman, Katie Ford, and Jennifer Hoppe-House, also stars Bernadette Peters and Rupert Friend, with Jay Roach and Ben Stiller directing. High Desert’s first three episodes premiere on Wednesday.

    Angel City

Tuesday, Wednesday, and Thursday, 9:00 PM ET on HBO

Fans of FX’s Welcome to Wrexham should find plenty to like in HBO’s docuseries about the inaugural season of L.A.’s Angel City Football Club, whose largely female ownership group includes the likes of Natalie Portman, Serena Williams, Mia Hamm, and Eva Longoria. Depicting the ups, downs, and occasional own goals of the National Women’s Soccer League expansion team’s first season, Angel City provides an insightful look at how women’s professional sports have flourished, even as the team struggles with recruitment, injuries, broadcast woes, and more. One episode airs every night from Tuesday to Thursday.

    Sisters

Wednesday, 11:00 PM ET on IFC

With Barry’s final season coming to a close, Sarah Goldberg fans need only hop over to IFC for more of the electric actress. After Canadian woman Sare (Goldberg) discovers that her long-absent father is still alive somewhere in Ireland, she sets out on a road trip with Suze (Susan Stanley), the half-sister she never knew about, in this dramedy created by real-life best friends Goldberg and Stanley. The title of the series premiere, “They F*** You Up,” indicates how the sisters’ Ireland-wide pursuit of their alcoholic dad is going to go; that episode airs on IFC on Wednesday, although Sundance Now and AMC+ subscribers can watch the entire, six-episode series all at once.

    Primo

    Friday, Amazon Freevee (Full Season)

The early life of journalist and author Shea Serrano is the basis for Freevee’s family sitcom about a Mexican-American teen named Rafa (Ignacio Diaz-Silverio) contending with his headstrong single mom (Christina Vidal) and five very different uncles (Carlos Santos, Henri Esteve, Johnny Rey Diaz, Jonathan Medina, and Efraín Villa) who have wildly divergent ideas about what it means to be a man. Creator Serrano teams with can’t-miss producer Michael Shur (The Good Place, Rutherford Falls, Brooklyn Nine-Nine) on this warm-hearted coming-of-age comedy. All eight episodes premiere on Friday.
