WATCH: Drew Barrymore and Milo Ventimiglia Bond Over Their Crooked Mouths

  • This Is Us star Milo Ventimiglia bonded with Drew Barrymore Wednesday over the fact that they have "crooked smiles."

Apparently, Barrymore wasn't aware that she talked out of the side of her mouth until Jimmy Fallon told her on the set of the Farrelly Brothers' movie Fever Pitch. "The Farrellys are major pranksters, so they were like "Okay, Jimmy, tell her something that's going to surprise her in this scene.' So he did. He said 'you know, like how when you talk out of the side of your mouth.' And I was like... 'uh-huh.' Well, that was the day that changed my life forever, because once you see that room with the lights on, when someone turns the lights off and says 'pretend you don't know what that looks like,' you can't."

Ventimiglia never noticed it until he was watching himself at a high school wrestling tournament on the news. "I'm watching this, and the only thing I can focus on is this really, really, severely crooked mouth. And I turned to my mom and I'm like 'Mom, is that what I look like?' She goes 'yeah, yeah, that's you, what do you mean?' I go 'well, my mouth! Why is it so crooked?' She goes, 'that's you.' I remember, from that point forward, I was very aware of it. I was very self-conscious of it."

He did say it helped him get a job playing Sylvester Stallone's son, though. "I was auditioning for Rocky Balboa, and he said something funny, and we just both started laughing, and then he kinda looks at me and he says 'wow, his lip, it even hooks down like mine does,' and he said that to the casting directors."
