The Righteous Gemstones has halted production on Season 3 ahead of Hurricane Ian making landfall in South Carolina.

The HBO comedy, which has been filming in Charleston, was on hold as of Friday. The storm was downgraded to a Category 1 hurricane after devastating Florida at a Category 4, and is expected to make landfall in South Carolina this afternoon. Suncoast, a Searchlight film starring Laura Linney and Woody Harrelson, also shut down production.

"Both are on hold today," said Dan Rogers, project manager for the South Carolina Film Commission.

"They said they expect to pick up on Monday, but everyone’s kind of in a wait-and-see mode right now," he continued. "Because Charleston is so low-lying, you’re dealing with a lot of water issues. So we’ll just have to wait and see what kind of rainfall we get... coastal stuff is on hold right now. Once this weekend is over, we’ll see what we come up with."

The Righteous Gemstones' third season began production over the summer. A premiere date has not been set yet.
