Tales of the Walking Dead, the upcoming anthology spinoff of The Walking Dead, has an entire musical episode already written, showrunner Channing Powell revealed in an interview with Entertainment Weekly.

"We did come up with a musical episode, that just for production reasons was going to be a little bit too difficult to film," said Powell.

"It's written!" Powell continued. "We have a whole script for it."

However, due to the first season's tight production schedule, producers didn't have time to film the episode and record the music.

But Powell told EW that even though the episode won't appear in the first season of The Walking Dead spinoff, he hopes it will see the light of day in the future.

"Should we get a season 2 or 3, I'm going to push for that one if I can," said Powell. "It lives in my heart and in my mind."

Powell's co-creator, Scott M. Gimple, also said the anthology will play with tone and format. "We may be doing different formats and possibility utilizing animation, music, different mediums," he said in a 2020 interview on Talking Dead. "We want to surprise people every week with what they will be getting."

Tales of the Walking Dead premieres August 14 at 8:00 PM ET on AMC and AMC+.
