While there's been a great deal of talk about whether Ted Lasso will end after its upcoming third season, but the cast is just as in the dark as fans.

Ted Lasso stars Brett Goldstein, Hannah Waddingham, and Juno Temple spoke about the show's potential end on Variety's Awards Circuit Podcast, explaining that the decision is up to star and co-creator Jason Sudeikis.

"It's written as in the story we have been telling will reach a conclusion," said Goldstein, who also serves as a writer on the show. "And that's how it was always planned. That doesn't necessarily mean it can't continue. But it's a kind of three act conclusion to this story."

"The good thing is we genuinely don't know," said Waddingham, who plays AFC Richmond owner Rebecca Welton. "I would have definitely blown it by now and said, 'Oh, no, no, we're teasing you.'"

Waddingham told Variety that she doesn't want the show to end, saying, "I don't want to leave her, this character!"

Temple is also unsure about the show's future beyond Season 3.

"No one has told me it's over," said Temple. "No one said that to me. But no one said that it's not. So I don't — I'm literally in limbo."

Goldstein ultimately said that Sudeikis will be the one to decide whether Ted Lasso carries on.

"He can decide whatever he wants," he explained. "And we'll trust in whatever he says."

"And maybe he deserves a break too," added Waddingham.

However, Temple pointed out that "things don't ever have to completely end. Things can come back years later, or they can not."

She continued, "When a show comes to a conclusion, those characters don't die, they go on and live their little fruitful lives in somebody's imagination. So you can come back to it. And as actors, I know, we're gonna miss them all a lot. I am for sure. Keeley has taught me so much about being kinder to myself, and I really miss her when I don’t get to play her."

"But also I think there's something about it too, you don't want to push something so far that then doesn't become the joy that it is," she added.

For now, viewers will just have to wait and see about the fate of Ted Lasso, which is currently filming its third season in London.
