Discovery+ Drops Two-Part Johnny vs Amber Documentary Amid High-Profile Trial

The documentary explores Depp and Heard's legal battle from two opposing points of view.

    Amid Johnny Depp and Amber Heard's high-profile defamation trial, Discovery+ has released two-part documentary Johnny vs. Amber. The docuseries offers an inside look at Depp's 2018 libel suit against British publication The Sun for calling him a "wife-beater."

    According to a statement from Discovery+, the two-part series "takes audiences to the very genesis of this tragic union," providing a "deep dive into the original trial from two polarized perspectives." The documentary features interviews with legal experts, as well as family, friends, and associates of Depp and Heard. Part 1 focuses on Depp's point of view, while Part 2 looks at the evidence and accusations from Heard's perspective.

    Johnny vs. Amber was first announced last November and premiered in the UK in December. U.S. subscribers are available to stream the documentary beginning Monday, May 9 on Discovery+.
