Zooey Deschanel, whose dad is nominated for best cinematographer, denounces plan to present Oscars in commercial breaks

The former New Girl star's father, cinematographer Caleb Deschanel, is nominated for his sixth Oscar this year for his work on Never Look Away. Should he win the award, he would deliver his speech during a commercial break. "Can’t believe @TheAcademy isn’t airing the categories for the most important jobs in film," Zooey Deschanel tweeted this morning. "Try making a movie without a cinematographer or editor! Can’t be done! Try creating a character without make up and hair! It can’t be done! Film is a collaborative art, treat it as such."
