Will Smith reunites with original Fresh Prince Aunt Viv Janet Hubert for HBO Max special

Smith and Hubert reportedly feuded behind the scenes on The Fresh of Bel-Air, leading to her firing after Season 3, with Daphne Maxwell Reid taking over the Aunt Viv role for the final three seasons. So fans were shocked Thursday night when Smith posted a photo of him and Hubert sitting down and smiling at each other. The Instagram post was accompanied by another image of the rest of the cast without Hubert. On Thursday, Smith and his castmates marked the 30th anniversary of Fresh Prince's Sept. 10, 1990 debut by taping an HBO Max special that is set to air around Thanksgiving. As EW recounts, Hubert "has publicly criticized Smith and the show numerous times throughout the years. Hubert has evidently changed her tune from 2011, when she said, 'There will never be a reunion.' In the past, the actress has slammed Smith for being an 'egomaniac' and even for being responsible for her firing from Fresh Prince. Smith has also hit back, claiming that Hubert wanted the show to be 'The Aunt Viv of Bel-Air.'" HBO Max said Hubert and Smith had an "emotional reunion and a candid conversation," but it doesn't appear that she reunited with the rest of the cast.
