The Comedy Store co-founder Sammy Shore dies at 92

Shore, the father of former MTV star Pauley Shore, co-founded The Comedy Store with screenwriter and actor Rudy de Luca in 1972. But he soon gave up ownership of it to his ex-wife Mitzi Shore as part of his divorce settlement. Mitzi Shore helmed The Comedy Store as it became the venue of choice for legendary performers from Robin Williams to Jay Leno to Richard Pryer, David Letterman, Roseanne Barr and Garry Shandling. Sammy Shore was precded in death by Mitzi Shore, who died 13 months ago in April 2018.
