Based on the AM radio show Swap Shop where people call in to swap and sell their products, Swap Shop: Dash For Cash's use of Swap Shop's name is a "flimsy excuse for what we’re actually watching, which are pairs of antiques collectors visiting people and looking at their antique items, and then making offers," says Andy Dehnart. "If this sounds familiar, it’s because this is just Netflix creating its own Pawn Stars or American Pickers. Coincidentally, a season of Pawn Stars was on Netflix up until mid-September."
