Lowe famously turned down the Dr. Derek Shepherd role that went to Patrick Dempsey. On the Marc Maron's WTF podcast, Lowe recalled rejecting the role. “Dude, I turned down Grey’s Anatomy. To play McDreamy," Lowe said. “That’s probably cost me $70 million,” Lowe said jokingly, before adding, “Eh, it’s just money.”
