Netflix and Ava DuVernay win dismissal of a When They See Us defamation lawsuit over a police interrogation technique

Police training firm John E. Reid and Associates sued DuVernay and Netflix last October, alleging that the Netflix miniseries falsely portrayed the “Reid Technique," a well-known police interrogation technique. In his ruling, Judge Manish S. Shah found that the series’ depiction was protected under the First Amendment.
