Madeleine Albright, first female secretary of state and a TV favorite, dies at 84

Albright, who served as President Bill Clinton's secretary of state during his second term from 1997 to 2001, died Wednesday of cancer. "She was a face of US foreign policy in the decade between the end of the Cold War and the war on terror triggered by the September 11, 2001, attacks, an era heralded by President George H.W. Bush as a 'new world order,'" according to CNN. Albright was also popular in Hollywood. Albright played herself on a 2005 episode of Gilmore Girls, a 2015 episode of Parks and Recreation and on two episodes of Madam Secretary, including one where she was joined by fellow former secretaries of states Colin Powell and Hillary Clinton.
