Laura Dern to play bartender in Quibi's Just One Drink

The Emmy-winning and Oscar-nominated actress is teaming with Nick Hornby to play a bartender with a sympathetic ear in Just One Drink. The High Fidelity and About a Boy writer is penning the script for the series of one-act vignettes between Dern's bartender character and the customers she serves, all of whom are in various states of emotional disrepair. Just One Drink is the latest shortform series for Hornby, who last year released Sundance TV's State of the Union, starring Rosamund Pike and Chris O'Dowd, that aired in 10-minute segments. Dern is up for best actress for Marriage Story at this year's Oscars.
