Keira Knightley pulls out of Apple TV+'s The Essex Serpent over childcare during the pandemic

The gothic period drama, which was scheduled to begin filming in six weeks, is going on hiatus while Knightley's role is recast. The actress' spokesperson says that because of a coronavirus spike in the UK, "there wasn't a comfortable scenario for Keira that could be put in place for an extended period of childcare required for the four-and-a-half-month production."
